ABOUT ME

"There is always an audience for what you possess. There is a group of people waiting on your sound."

With an innate love for music, derived from a heritage of lyricists, Shawanda believes that her greatest life lessons are intertwined into the bold, confident sounds that she produces, through song, as she often tells vocalists: Do it scared. It was not until the release of her first album, 30 Years Later, that she understood the power of those words; it was there, on that stage, that she exchanged rote performances and standing ovations for she defines as the greatest blessing and utility of her gift: the ability to reach people where they need be reached.

Shawanda Lynette’s intuitive, spirit-driven lyricism whispers affirmations, unravels generational curses, and affirms the beauty of God’s creation. Like the first drop of rain, in a desolate land, her organic tones take her audiences, both nationally and internationally, on a journey of healing and retrospection. Whether she is serving in her current capacity as a Worship Leader, coaching other artists, arranging pieces, or on stage with the likes of Patrick Love, JJ Harris, Stacey Joseph, or Maurette Brown Clark, the intentionality and authenticity of her sound remains intact.

Combining intercession and psalmist expressions, each Sunday at the Movement Centre, Shawanda Lynette creates a sound that extends beyond aisles and ignites souls, reaching those who need what she possesses – a unique, emboldened sound.
